Fly Saint-Hilaire du Touvet

A funicular to the launch, the Isère valley below and Grenoble on the horizon — Saint-Hilaire is French free flight's spiritual home.

The Plateau des Petites Roches has been drawing pilots since the sport began, and a century-old funicular still carries them up from the valley floor. The launch faces west over the Grésivaudan, with the Chartreuse behind and Belledonne across the valley. Every September the Coupe Icare turns the plateau into the largest free-flight gathering in the world. Flying runs spring through autumn, and tandem pilots work here daily in season.
