The Kampenwand cable car rises from Aschau to a limestone ridge with the Chiemsee laid out below, and flights run out over the foothills toward the water. It is one of the busiest launches in Upper Bavaria, close enough to Munich for a day trip and served by a string of local schools. The season is long, and autumn often brings the clearest air.
