Monte Grappa's launches drop straight onto the Venetian plain — one of Italy's great flying mountains, an hour from Venice.
Monte Grappa rises alone above the plain north of Bassano, and that isolation is what makes the flying: thermals build on every side and cross-country routes run for tens of kilometres along the pre-Alps. The site has hosted World Cup rounds and stays busy from spring to late autumn. Bassano itself is a handsome old town on the Brenta, easy to reach from Venice or Verona.
